Thank God for Grace

Thank God for Grace

"GOD's curse on whoever does not give substance to the words of this Revelation by living them. All respond: Yes. Absolutely."Deut. 27:26

As I read through Deuteronomy 28 and reflected on the consequences of ignoring God’s voice, it became clear that obedience is not just about escaping curses—it is about becoming the person God intends us to be. Every act of listening and obeying shapes us, molds us, and makes us better humans, better disciples, and better witnesses of His grace.

The passages describe painful outcomes for those who turn away from God’s instructions. Yet, in Christ, we find hope. Jesus took the curse upon Himself so that we might walk in the blessing of God’s favor, mercy, and love. What a gift! What a grace!

Deuteronomy 28:47 reminds us: "Because you didn't serve GOD, your God, out of the joy and goodness of your heart in the great abundance…"

This teaches us that our service to God should spring from joy, gratitude, and sincerity—not from what we hope to gain. While God indeed rewards obedience, the blessing is not the motive; love is. Joy is. Gratitude is.

Our text urges us to give substance to the things we hear from God. How? By living them out. By becoming doers, not merely hearers.

As James 1:22 says:
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

May our lives continually reflect the grace we have received.

Reflection
God’s grace does not excuse obedience; it empowers it. When we truly grasp what Christ has done, our hearts respond not with duty but with delight. Obedience becomes an overflow of love, not a struggle of performance. Today, consider: Am I giving substance to God’s word by living it out daily?

Prayer
Father, thank You for Your grace that has rescued me from the curse and brought me into blessing. Help me to serve You with joy and gladness of heart. Teach me to be a doer of Your word and not just a hearer. May my obedience be an expression of love, gratitude, and devotion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a fruitful day,
