Take God's Word Back to Him
Take God’s Word Back to Him
“This took place at Shiloh in the land of Canaan. They said, ‘The LORD commanded through Moses that you give us cities to live in, with pasturelands for our cattle.’ So the people of Israel gave the Levites cities and pasturelands from their inheritance, just as the LORD had commanded.” (Joshua 21:2–3)
This event happened at in the land of . The Levites approached and the leaders of Israel with confidence, reminding them of what the LORD had already commanded through . They were not demanding anything new; they were standing on a settled word. And Scripture records that the people responded in obedience—just as the LORD had commanded.
God’s word is eternally true, eternally settled, and powerful enough to establish us. Yet believing the word is only the beginning. We must also learn to take God’s word back to Him—to pray, act, and live in alignment with what He has already said.
The Levites teach us a vital lesson: men who know God’s word can speak it with holy confidence. When they recalled God’s instruction, provision followed. In the same way, when we take God at His word, we give Him room to act on our behalf.
This principle echoes in the New Testament. When told to let down the nets, Peter replied, “At Your word.” That simple response—rooted in trust—released a miraculous catch. Peter took God at His word, and heaven responded.
Just as children remind their parents, “You said so,” faith reminds God of His promises—not because He forgets, but because He delights in children who trust His word completely.
Reflection
What promises has God spoken over your life through Scripture? Are there words you believe but have stopped declaring? Taking God’s word back to Him is an act of faith. It says, “Lord, I trust You enough to stand on what You have said.” When we pray God’s promises, we move from passive belief to active faith—and God honors His word.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You because Your word is true, settled, and unchanging. Teach me to trust You completely—not only to hear Your promises but to stand on them boldly. Give me grace to take Your word back to You in prayer, obedience, and faith. As I remind You of what You have spoken, let Your power be revealed in my life. I choose to say, “At Your word,” Lord. Amen.
Have a fruitful day
