Unwavering Faith

Unwavering Faith

"Now behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said. These forty-five years ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.” (Joshua 14:10)

When we speak of unwavering faith, the life of Caleb immediately comes to mind. For forty-five long years, he held tightly to the word God spoke concerning him. That alone says so much about the depth and resilience of his faith.

Caleb’s greatest victory was not merely possessing the land, but refusing to let go of God’s promise through seasons of delay, transition, and uncertainty. Many people today would have abandoned what God said simply because time passed or circumstances changed. But not Caleb.

Even after the death of Moses—the vessel through whom the promise first came—Caleb did not let the word die. He brought it before Joshua, the new authority, and boldly recounted exactly what God had spoken. This teaches us a powerful lesson: promises do not expire because seasons change. Our responsibility is to hold on to God’s word and continually return it to Him in faith.

Scripture shows us how to engage with prophetic words over our lives. The prophet Hosea instructs us:

Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to Him, ‘Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.’” (Hosea 14:2 NIV)

Likewise, the Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy to actively use the prophetic words spoken over him:

This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare.” (1 Timothy 1:18 NKJV)

The question then becomes: what word has God spoken over your life? Lay hold of it. Take those words and return to the Lord with them. Recount them back to Him in prayer and trust.

Time and space do not weaken the word of God. If anything, they only prove its strength. Forty-five years later, Caleb still received what God promised. So do not waver. Simply return the word to God—and stand.

Reflection
Waiting does not mean God has forgotten. Delays do not cancel divine promises. Caleb teaches us that faith is not passive—it is active remembrance. True faith keeps rehearsing what God has said, even when everything around suggests otherwise. What promise are you still holding? Have you kept it alive in prayer, or have you allowed time to silence it?

Prayer
Heavenly Father,  thank You because You are faithful to Your word. Teach me to hold on to what You have spoken, even when time stretches and circumstances change. Strengthen my faith so I do not grow weary or forget Your promises. Like Caleb, help me to stand firm, to recount Your word back to You, and to trust that what You have said, You will surely bring to pass. I choose today to return Your word to You in faith, believing that You are able and willing to fulfill it.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a fruitful day
