Principles of the Doctrine of Christ 2

"baptismal instructions; laying on of hands; resurrection of the dead; eternal judgment. (Heb.6.2 MSB)

The next two on the list of the principles of the doctrine of Christ are "baptism instructions" and the "laying on hands"

The instruction Jesus gave regarding baptism as he spoke to his disciples just before he ascended says:

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matt.28.19)

Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost and some have taken this to mean deep into the water three times. But if you understand what water baptism represents then you'd know that is wrong. Baptism is a physical representation of the dead, buried, and resurrection of Christ. Christ did not die three times but once.

"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Rom.6.4)

To be baptized one must have accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour. Baptism does not cleanse one from sins.

Next is the laying on of hands. Jesus said that those who believe will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.

"They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Mark.16.18)

We see Jesus lay hands on the sick (see Luke:4:40) Same thing with the disciples (Acts.28:8) This was an instruction for the believer to carry out. You too can lay hands on the sick and the sick will recover.
