Labour to enter that rest

"Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." (Heb.4.11)

There is a lot of misconception about believers labouring. Some in certain quarters have made labouring look like a bad thing. But we see the Apostle Paul in the scriptures say he laboured more than all but it was the grace of God labouring through him.

"But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." (1Cor.15.10)

Grace is not an excuse for laziness. The grace of God in the Apostle Paul laboured.

Our text talks about labour, rest, and unbelief. Jesus speaking in John 6 says the work that is required of believers is to believe

"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John.6.29)

Therefore, for one to enter into the rest, one has to believe. And that belief helps us enter the rest of God and from this place of rest we can labour as the Apostle Paul did, knowing that God's grace is labouring through us. Our labour then is to enter into that rest. Why? So that none will fall as the children of Israel did in unbelief. And when we have entered into that rest, from there the grace of God can labour through us. Labour then, to enter that rest.
