You are chosen (part 2)

You are chosen (Part 2)

"But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you" (1Pet.2.9 MSB)

Jesus told his disciples that he had chosen them and by extension chosen you. (see John:15:16) And in our text the Apostle Peter gave five reasons why we were chosen. We've looked at two, here are the remaining three:

3. God's instruments to do his work. God chose you the way you are but love you enough to make you an instrument in His hand to do good works.

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."(Eph.2.10)

4. Speak out for him: What are we to say for God? To reconcile the word back to God. "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." (2Cor.5.19) God has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Speak up for him, be a witness.

5. To tell others of the night-and-day difference he made. The story of the demoniac comes to mind. After Christ delivered him, he tried to follow Christ but Christ said to him go and tell others what things God has done for you.

"Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him." (Luke.8.38 - 39)

You are chosen, act like it.
