The serpent spoke to the woman

The serpent spoke to the woman

"The serpent was clever, more clever than any wild animal GOD had made. He spoke to the Woman: "Do I understand that God told you not to eat from any tree in the garden?" (Gen.3.1)

The cleverness of the serpent was abundantly described here in this verse. The verse says it is more clever than any other animal that God had created. It is this cleverness that enables it to deploy its arsenal against human. And we will see how he does this in this verse.

The weapon the devil, a.k.a. the serpent uses against human is twofold. One is deception and the other one is ignorance. its cleverness helps it to use these effectively against man. This is how he operates :

He spoke to the woman - who are you listening to? Who you listen to is more important than what you listen to. If you listen to the devil speak, even when he quotes scriptures, you know he is lying. The Bible call him the father of all lies. (See John:8:44) Meaning, he isn't capable of speaking the truth. So do not listen to him speak.

He suggests - he makes suggestion to you and makes you think them as your own thoughts. Little wonder the Apostle Paul asked us to cast down imaginations and bring every thoughts or arguments to the obedience of Christ.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2Cor.10.4 - 5 KJV)

It is interesting to note what the Apostle Paul refers to as warfare is being able to bring your thoughts to align with God's thoughts. The thoughts will come, but refuse to dwell on them. Counter it by verbalizing God's word. Put God's word on your lips and hide them in your heart and do not give any place to the devil.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
