The Power of unity 

"Then GOD scattered them from there all over the world. And they had to quit building the city." (Gen.11.8

We can all agree on the power of purpose, but where there is no unity, purpose has no power. You cannot build anything worthwhile, where there is no unity. 

They had to quit building the city. It was not that there was no vision, not that there were no resources, not that there was no manpower but because there was no unity, for God had scattered them, so they had to quit building the city. 

You need unity to build your home. Many homes are in shambles not because there is no love, not because there is no care but because there is no unity. You cannot build without unity. 

Hence the Bible warms us to mark those who cause division and avoid them. 

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." (Rom.16.17) 

In another place still, warming against division, he encountered us to speak the same thing. 

"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment." (1Cor.1.10l

Without unity, you cannot build. 

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" (Ps.133.1)

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
