Nothing Is Left Undone

Nothing Is Left Undone

“As you can see, I’m about to go the way we all end up going. Know this with all your heart, with everything in you, that not one detail has failed of all the good things GOD, your God, promised you. It has all happened. Nothing’s left undone—not so much as a word.” (Joshua 23:14)

As Joshua approached the end of his life, he spoke with deep conviction and clarity. He reminded the people of Israel that every promise God made to them had been fulfilled. Not one word had failed. God had proven Himself faithful in every detail.

Life moves steadily toward a destination we all share. From the moment we take our first breath, we begin the journey that will one day lead to our last. A Yoruba proverb says, “There is a name every human must bear,” reminding us that death is a reality none can escape. Joshua simply described it as “the way we all end up going.”

Yet the real question is not merely how long we live, but how well we live. God has entrusted each of us with assignments, purposes, and opportunities. If we live carelessly or without preparation, we may leave many of those divine assignments unfinished.

The Psalmist understood this truth when he prayed for wisdom to number his days. When we become aware that our time is limited, we begin to live more intentionally. Preparation, discipline, and obedience help ensure that we do not leave undone the things God has placed within our lives to accomplish.

Joshua could confidently say, “Nothing’s left undone—not so much as a word.” He lived faithfully, followed God’s direction, and fulfilled his calling. What a testimony to have at the end of life!

Will that be our story too? Can we also say that we completed what God entrusted to us? If there are things holding us back—fear, delay, distractions, or lack of preparation—we can return to God today. He is always ready to guide, strengthen, and help us finish well.

Our goal should be to live in such a way that, when our journey is complete, we can testify like Joshua: nothing was left undone.

Reflection
Life is a gift with a purpose attached to it. Every day is an opportunity to move closer to fulfilling God’s plan for our lives. When we live intentionally, guided by God’s wisdom, we can finish our journey with the satisfaction that we ran our race faithfully. The question we must constantly ask ourselves is: Am I doing what God has called me to do today?

Prayer
Lord, teach me to number my days and to live with wisdom and purpose. Help me to recognize the assignments You have placed in my life and give me the discipline and courage to carry them out faithfully. Remove every distraction, fear, or delay that keeps me from fulfilling Your will. May my life be lived in obedience to You, so that when my journey is complete, I too can say that nothing You entrusted to me was left undone. Amen.

Have a fruitful day,
