Children of faith

On our way back from church the other day, my teenage son asked everyone in the car, the question he was asked in church. And that question was, "Which would you rather experience, Jesus, walking on water or Moses parting the red sea?

I responded that I would have loved to see the red sea parted with all the razzmatazz, the roaring of the sea splashing against itself, the fishes and all other sea creatures having their lives on pause because God paid attention to His children or because His children acted in faith.

I thought that was a rather interesting question to ponder. Both were great acts of faith. But looking closely at this verse, I saw something interesting

"Is it not obvious to you that persons who put their trust in Christ (not persons who put their trust in the law!) are like Abraham: children of faith?" (Gal.3.7 MSG)

While Moses represented the law, Jesus represent grace. And they both have their place but it says here that it should be obvious that those that are called the children of faith are the ones who like Abraham trusted in God.

What Moses had to part for his people to walk through, Jesus walked on. So it could have been possible that Jesus would not have needed to part the red sea to get everyone to the other side but would have gotten everyone to walk on the red sea to get to the other side.

I really do not know which sight would have been more 'wowed', or I would have been awed by. But one thing was sure. Faith was the currency that made a down payment that ensured either of the experiences.

Are you a child of Abraham, then don't just say it, let us see your acts of faith. Let see the exploit of your faith. Faith requires action. Don't sit there and sit still, step out and act now

Good day,
And have a great day today,

  1. Step out and act now is the salient point in today's message. May God help us to always step out in all situations and act according to the will of God in Jesus name amen
