Conflicted choices

Choices are the most determining factor in predicting one's destiny. We have ofter believed that destiny is a fixed location that the believer will arrive at. But the truth is that destiny is an adventure in purpose fulfillment and not a destination because there is always a place called forward. When you get there God calls you further. So as you transverse this spherical globe called earth, make sure you are living adventurously in fulfilling God's purpose for your life.

"The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict." (Gal.5.17 NLT)

The flesh has desires and anyone who denies this is living in denial. But the Spirit of God also gives us desires that are opposite from what the flesh desires. Herein lies the conflict of the Christian walk.

Should he follow the desires of his flesh? We all know we will answer no. But if it was that easy great men like Samson will be telling a different story. And there is a great lesson to learn from him. You know he trusted himself so much; he didn't believe it could happen to him. Even in contemporary times, men and women that have fallen did not think it could happen to them. So they left themselves to chances and little by little they were drawn in until it was too late.

Conflicted choices. Should I follow the desires of the flesh or should I follow that of the spirit of God? The choice is yours!

To help you, it is better to eliminate as much as possible anything that draws you into what you know God doesn't desire for you. Your conflict is proof that you are still a Christian. If there was no conflict, you will do well to "examine yourself if you are still in the faith" (see 2 Cor:13:5) because our text tells us that our choices are never free from this conflict"

keep trusting God to lead you to make the right choice and if for any reason you made the wrong choice, remember that you have an advocate with the Father ( see 1 John:2:1) Go back to Him and He will sort you out.

And have a great day today,
