Pay those who teach you the word

The teaching profession is one of the noblest professions. The teachers are the ones who train and teach all the other professionals but they are about the least paid. Their reward, I hear is in heaven. Even those teachers who teach the word of God seem to suffer the same fate so the Apostle Paul gave a specific instruction here in our text.

The Apostle Paul says those that are taught the word of God should help their teachers by paying them.

"Those who are taught the word of God should help their teachers by paying them." (Gal.6.6 NLT)

We can indeed help these teachers in several other ways. We can pray for them, we can help with house chores, and so forth. But Paul the apostle was so specific, he says help them by paying them.

If they teach you the word, then help them by paying them. Jesus indeed said, freely you have received, freely give

"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
"Don't take any money with you. Don't carry a traveler's bag with an extra coat and sandals or even a walking stick. Don't hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve to be fed.
(Matt.10.8 -10)

Notice Jesus said don't take money with you but don't hesitate to accept hospitality. So we see the concept is the same, just different expressions.

This may imply that the teacher of the word is not to place a premium on his or her services. The onus is on the one taught to reciprocate by paying the teacher.

Many teachers now ask to be paid because those who are taught have neglected their obligations to the teachers. So it is in order for you to pay those who teach you the word of God.

And have a great day today,

  1. True that. Teachers ought to be appreciated.

  2. Pulpit teachers do get offerings and tithes and sometimes have designed what they call showers on the minister .

Civil teachers? I don't like what they get as remuneration.
