The true Israel of God

"All who walk by this standard are the true Israel of God--his chosen people. Peace and mercy on them!" (Gal.6.16 msg)

There is something about the land of Israel. It is home to about the two most popular religious faith. If we trace back to Abraham, one thing we will see about him is that he was a friend of God. But he also is the father of the two sons Ishmael the first son and Isaac the second and son of promise. What is interesting about the second son is beyond telling.

Adam the first son, Jesus Christ the second. Cain and Abel, Ishmael and Isaac, Esau and Jacob, Reuben and Joseph,  Ephraim and Manasseh, Eliab and David. And the list is long enough to show a pattern. The blessing seems to rest on the second son. In all the examples given above,  we could see God by-passing the first sons and giving the blessing to the second. Jacob helps us see this pattern better in Genesis 48.

"Then Joseph took the two boys, Ephraim with his right hand setting him to Israel's left, and Manasseh with his left hand setting him to Israel's right, and stood them before him. But Israel crossed his arms and put his right hand on the head of Ephraim who was the younger and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, the firstborn. Then he blessed them: The God before whom walked my fathers Abraham and Isaac, The God who has been my shepherd all my lifelong to this very day, (Gen.48.13-15)

In our text we see the Apostle Paul alluded to this pattern. He speaks of the true Israel of God. What this means is that with every promise you see God make to firstborn Israel, you as the true Israel of God, and the second son has the privilege of the manifestation in your life. The question however is if you are walking in that reality?

This has nothing to do with you as a first son or second son of your parents but all this was a shadow foretelling that the blessing was going to be on Jesus Christ through whom we have become the true Israel of God. So enjoy your blessings

And have a great day today,
