Love like God

Love is such a strong word, even stronger when one is told to love as God loves. We know that God loves unconditionally, God loves extravagantly and God loves ceaselessly. This is a tall order, tall task to say the least but we are shown how we can love as God loves.

One way bank tellers are taught to spot and recognize counterfeit banknotes is by exposing them long enough to original notes so when a fake or counterfeit is presented, it easily stands out. This is the same principle that we are exposed to in our text.

"Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that." (Eph.5.2 MSG)

The Apostle tells us that what God does is to love us on a regular but it went a bit further to say we should keep company with him and learn a life of love.

What does a life of love look like? It is making people feel appreciated and acknowledged. Love brags on people. A wise man once said that people can live on a good compliment for six months. Loving people is how you make people feel. Yes, love can be tough sometimes but at the end of the day, it is about the betterment of the other person.

He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us.' The God kind of Love gives of himself with no intention of getting anything back in return. This does not mean that it does not get something back, it means however that the intent was not to get something back. We are told to love like that. When we smother people with love, love will likely come back to us. Let's love as Jesus loves

  1. God is love, if you have many beautiful and commendable attributes without love, you are nothing as 1corinthians 13 described love. May God give us the mind to love unconditionally in Jesus name Amen.
