Not many have this understanding

It is true that when the purpose of a thing is known abuse is inevitable. It is also true that when the purpose of a thing is known, fear takes a back seat. The subject of death has held many in the grip of fear. The Bible talks about those who are subject to bondage as a result of the fear of death all their lives.

"And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Heb.2.15)

But the Apostle Paul is one of the Bible characters that addressed the subject of death from the place of knowing. He spoke without fear when he spoke of death. He said in our text that if he dies, he is the bounty for Christ.

"Alive, I'm Christ's messenger; dead, I'm his bounty. Life versus even more life! I can't lose." (Phil.1.21 MSG )

He says if he is alive, he is the messenger of Christ. He knows that living will allow him to continue to be of service to the kingdom of God. But if he dies, it is gain for his Master Jesus Christ. And this striped fear of whatever bondage it could have had over the Apostle Paul.

When he addressed the subject of food sacrificed to an idol in 1 Cor:8:7 he talked about those who do not have a piece of certain knowledge. The absence of this knowledge is what has robbed many of their peace as far as death is concerned. If you belong to Christ, death is gain for you. So he concludes in our text "life versus even more life! I can't lose".

Either way, it is a win-win. He referred to life - that is not dying versus death - which he refers to as more life. If he dies, it is more life for him. But not everyone has this understanding. Christ died and delivered us from the bondage of the fear of death-do you have this understanding? Alive is a win, death is even more life, so why fear death?

And have a great day today,
