God's peace

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus". (Phil.4.9)

One of the most sort after commodities today is peace. Peace is not the absence of disquiet but despite it. It is a state of oneness, of agreement within and without, nothing missing, nothing broken. But the society cannot enjoy collective peace except there is first individual peace. It is the accumulation of individual peace that will bring about collective societal peace.

Peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice and equity. And it is only God that gives lasting peace. The peace that God gives supersedes all else. The peace that God gives is a guard over your heart and mind. It keeps worry away.

The previous verse tells us how to achieve this peace. It says it is by making your request known to God with thanksgiving. The reason this peace from God passes all understanding is that it is there despite the troubles of life.

Jesus was asleep in the midst of a storm because He had this peace. In fact, He is the peace. Peter slept soundly on the eve of his proposed execution - peace. Paul was not troubled in a shipwreck because he belonged to the One Who gives this peace. You too can experience this peace of God.

Finally, this peace comes through Jesus Christ. Nothing and no one can guarantee you this peace except Christ Jesus. You too can have this peace through Jesus Christ. Accept Him into your heart and He'll come with His peace. Enjoy the peace of God

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
