High-sounding nonsense

Jesus Christ is the center of the world. He is the center of history, he is the divider between history and the future. He is the center of time and eternity.

You may wonder what I am driving at. I will tell you. But first, let's look at our text:

"Don't let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world, and not from Christ". (Col.2.8)

It talks about empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and the evil powers of this world and not from Christ.

By contrast, we could say the reverse of these things come from Christ viz worthwhile philosophy, high-sounding sense, and divine thinking. I say all of that to say that anything that draws you away from Christ is not of God.

Any philosophy, wisdom nuggets, and reasoning that does not point you to Christ is high-sounding nonsense. Any learning that takes you away from Christ instead of pointing you to Christ is not of God.

"The tools of our trade aren't for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ". (2Cor.10.5)

It is this high-sounding nonsense that the Apostle Paul asked us to tear down, demolish and smash using the weapons of our warfare. In the name of Jesus, we smash any nest of high-sounding nonsense and we established God's think apparatus that brings every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
