Let heaven fill your thoughts

"Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. (Col.3.2)

Let every action be taken with the benefits of heaven in mind. It is not so much about trying to get to heaven but that we are conscious of our presence in heaven that we act not as earthly being seeking a heavenly experience but as heavenly citizens having an earthly experience. So we act heavenly, we speak heavenly, and live heavenly.

Let heaven fill your thoughts. Thinking about heaven a lot helps you cope with earthly challenges. No this isn't escapism, it is reality. Your reality is what you believe it is.

The other part of our text says "Do not only think about things down here on earth". That means we are permitted to think about things down here on earth but we must remember that heaven is our home, our destination. The more you lend your time to a thing, the more that thing lends itself to you.

Let heaven fill your thoughts. Think about heaven, talk about heaven. 'And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth '. (Col.3.2 Amp.)

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
