Perfect in Christ

We are perfect in Christ. We are not trying to be perfect by living holy lives and acting right but we are living holy and acting right because we are already perfect in Christ. Jesus praying in John 17:17 spoke about the believer being sanctified by the word of God.

"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John.17.17)
We could read that verse thus and do no violence to the text:  perfect them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The Apostle Paul also shared the same concept in Eph.5.26 - 27 "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish".

Once again we see the ingredients or the interplay of sanctification and the word of God.

In our text, Paul the Apostle repeated this concept

"Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus". (Col.1.28)

Let's see that same passage in the Passion translation

"Christ is our message! We preach to awaken hearts and bring every person into the full understanding of truth. It has become my inspiration and passion in ministry to labor with a tireless intensity, with his power flowing through me, to present to every believer the revelation of being his perfect one in Jesus Christ".

Do you see that?

His intention is to present to every believer the revelation of being perfect in Jesus Christ.

In Christ we are perfect. The word of God helps us to see and work it or bring it into reality. Just as a child has all the muscles that the adult has but with exercise, it becomes evident what was already in the child. The child is the champion, the kid is the king, and the believer is perfect. In Christ you are perfect... Work it out
