As the elect of God...

As the very elect of God, there are certain requirements expected of us. This is because we are not just elected but our election declared us holy and beloved of God.

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man has a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness". (Col.3.12-14)

As the elect of God, these verses say we must 'put on therefore' meaning these are our code of conduct, these are our acceptable behaviour: the bowels of mercies - you must be full of mercy, kindness - you must be kind. Humbleness of mind, meaning your humility is not just an outward display but that your mind is truly humble. And that you are meek - meekness, and must know how to suffer long - long-suffering.

Furthermore, it says we must learn to forbear and forgive one another. And then it says above all you must love - put on charity.

Once you are thus clothed, like the clothes grew with the children of Israel on their way to the promised land, so these must grow with you. Meaning you are not expected to take them off. (see Deut.29.5)

Good day,
And have a great day today,
