Steel in your convictions

Conviction is more important than knowledge, more important than skills, and more important than talent. A man with deep conviction and little knowledge can do more than a man with great knowledge and little conviction. Men with convictions of steel have been known to change the world.

"When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn't just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions. You paid careful attention to the way we lived among you". (1Thess.1.5)

What are your convictions? How do you develop deep conviction?

A conviction is "full assurance, most certain confidence". To develop this kind of assurance, there is a place for constant and consistent thinking, meditating, and ruminating on the word that you have heard. Jesus in John 15:7 talks about abiding in the word and the word abiding in you. Paul in Col:3:16 talked about the word of God dwelling richly in you

"What was sown on the good ground, this is he who hears the word and understands it, who most certainly bears fruit and produces, some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.” (Matt: 13:23 Web)

Hearing and understanding the word of God, bearing fruit, and being productive as a result of the word of God heard creates convictions. The impact is proportional to the amount of conviction. Little wonder the early church made so much impact. We have so much rev today with not enough commensurate conviction.

The reason there is little or no impact is that there is not enough conviction. And our text tells us that the Holy Spirit puts steel in our conviction. The Holy Spirit works through the word of God and puts conviction in our hearts, we just need to abide long enough in the word and let the word abide long enough in us. Steel in our convictions...

And have a great day today,
