Bringing out the best in others

The Bible is very real. It addresses our daily relational needs. If we adhere to these principles of godly living, we will not only become better Christians we will become better human beings.

"And be careful that when you get on each other's nerves you don't snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out". (1Thess.5.15)

Our text today acknowledges the fact that we will get on each other's nerves once in a while but went further to instruct us what to do when that happens.

It says "don't snap at each other". Woah! Don't snap? How does one deal with snapping? Self-control with the help of the Holy Spirit. Constantly yield yourself to the Holy Spirit.

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger". (Prov.15.1)

Then it says, "look for the best in each other". This is the exact opposite of what happens when people quarrel. In a quarrel, people want to have the last word. When they are told something hurtful, they look for something more severe to say to the other person. That should not be our case. It says to look for the best in others.

And finally, it says "always do your best to bring it (the best) out". So it is not just okay to see the best in others, it says do your best to bring the best out of others. Do everything in your power to bring the best out of others

The more we engage in these practices the less and less we will get on each other's nerves. Don't snap, see the best in others, and do your best to bring out the best in others. May God help us in Jesus' name. Amen

Good day,
And have a great day today,
