Cheerleaders

"and sent Timothy to get you up and about, cheering you on so you wouldn't be discouraged by these hard times. He's a brother and companion in the faith, God's man in spreading the Message, preaching Christ". (1Thess.3.2)

One person you need in your corner every step of the way is a cheerleader. A cheerleader believes in you despite you. A cheerleader sees your possibilities and not your inadequacies. He sees your intentions, and your strengths and encourages you.

Paul the Apostle did this for most of the churches he planted. He would go again and again as much as he could. He could not do this for the church in Thessaloniki so he sent Timothy to do this on his behalf.

Timothy's assignment was simple: to get them up and about, cheer them on, and encourage them during these hard times. Choosing the right person to be in your corner during difficult times is one of life's gracious blessings.

In choosing a successful cheerleader look out for these attributes: 1. A brother or a sister: is a fellow believer, united with another by the bond of affection. This is someone who is there when s/he has every reason not to be there. In life, you do not choose your siblings. That's how you know who will be your brother or your sister. He or she's got your back.

2. He is your companion in the faith. That is, he sees what you see, believes what you believe, and can be of help to you. He has faith for what you have faith for. We see an example of this in Jonathan's armour bearer. (See 1 Sam:14:7)

We all need cheerleaders who see the purposes of God in our lives and are there to be of support and encourage us to be all God has in store for us. Some call them destiny helpers...

Good day,
And have a great day today,
