Defiant of the opposition

 
The reason why some people are still where they are is that they back down too easily. You must learn to find the courage to stand, having done all your stand, and be defiant to the opposition. 

"We had just been given rough treatment in Philippi, as you know, but that didn't slow us down. We were sure of ourselves in God, and went right ahead and said our piece, presenting God's Message to you, defiant of the opposition." (1Thess.2.2 msg) 

Rough Treatment 
The Apostle Paul says they had just been given rough treatment. A lot of Christians live with this deluded mindset that because they are Christians everything will be easy for them. That is not the case. Do not pray that the road be easy but that God grant you the strength to travel it come what may. The examination will not become one plus one when others are doing calculus because you are a Christian. God did not promise you a trouble-free life but that He will be with you in trouble. 

Did not Slow us Down 
Despite the rough treatment, they did not slow down. Don't slow down and still expect to win or achieve your goals. Give it your all. Work as if you did not pray and pray as though you never worked. 

We were Sure of Ourselves in God 
Are you sure of yourself? Do you know what stuff you are made of? A lot of people chicken out in the face of opposition because they do not know themselves and as a result, they are not sure of themselves in God. Be sure of yourself in God, not in your abilities and finances or contacts but God. 

We went ahead and said our piece
Do that little that you know how to, say your piece. It is after you have done your bit that God can step in on your behalf. Do your part and let God do His. It is when you have done your part that you can be defiant to the opposition because you are sure that God will do His part. It was Daniel's part to pray but God's part to keep him safe in the lion's den. It was Jesus' part to part to pray but God's part to see Him through crucifixion. It was the Apostle Paul's and his team's part to say their piece, and present the message but God's part to convicts and bring in the converts. 

Do not stop because it is difficult, stop because the work is done, and be defiant to the opposition.

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
