The effectual workings of the word

"For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe". (1Thess.2.13)

How the word of God is received, we can see from this verse is very important. If you receive it as the words of men, it will not work effectually for you. But if you receive it as it is in truth the word of God it will work effectually for you.

Jesus taught us in the parable of the sower how the word should be received.

"And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred". (Mark.4.20)

He says they heard the word.
The proof that you received the word is that you bring fruit. The Apostle Paul says it works effectively in those who believe. The way to show that you believe is that you act on the Word of God you have received.

What does Jesus mean when He says to hear the word and to receive it? To hear? That is to consider to the point of understanding while to receive is to acknowledge as one's own - to own it. You have to become one with the word through understanding and then you can bring fruit. The word works wonders...believe it.

And have a great day today,
