Don't stifle prophecy

Prophecy is one of the ways God speaks to His people. In the Old Testament, God spoke through prophets to His people. It is still a way through which God speaks to His people today. So the Apostle Paul admonished the believers to not stifle prophecy.

"And don't stifle those who have a word from the Master". (1Thess.5.20)

In another scripture, the Apostle Paul says to be eager to prophesy (see 1 Cor:14:39) While it is one way God speaks to us, God being a God of balance says we should not be gullible.

"On the other hand, don't be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what's good". (1Thess.5.20)

Check out everything.

How do you check prophecies? It must line up with what the word of God says and must confirm what you already know or sense in your spirit.

The Holy Ghost through the word of God is our primary guide. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God". (Rom.8.14)

When a prophecy comes it must be judged with the word of God. Hence it says "keep what is good". The reason a lot of people have stifle prophecies is that people have used them wrongly for selfish gain. Hence we must check out everything. It is also true that though some people have misused it does not mean that it should be stifled. The Apostle says let those that are spiritual should judge (see 1 Cor:2:15; 1 Cor:14:27)

Let not the devil trick us from what God has made available for our benefit. Stifle not prophecies.

And have a great day today,
