Purposeful instructions

"The purpose of my instruction is that all the Christians there would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and sincere faith."  (1Tim.1.5)

Human nature seeks to please itself before it considers others. This is a result of the fallen nature that man took on when he bequeathed his estate to the serpent the devil.

When man fell, he fell from all that God had for him. Hence the Apostle Paul here instructs and gave us the purpose for these instructions.

And the purpose is fourfold:
That Christians be filled with love. Love is above all else. Are you filled with love? Romans:5:5 tells us that the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts.

"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." (Rom.5.5)

So the right question is: How well do you express this love of God that is in your heart?

Next, it says that this love must come from a pure heart. This is important because the Apostle alluded to the fact that some may go as far as giving gifts, and even have their bodies burnt but can still do this without love (see 1 Cor:12:3)

And then he added for good measure, that this love must come from a clear conscious. Without hypocrisy. 1 Cor:13 also makes this truth clearer.

Finally, love must also be expressed in sincere faith. A faith that does not weaver and one that stays true in the face of danger. One that loves even when reviled and does not seek its own.

"Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; (1Cor.13.5

There we have the purpose of our instructions, that every Christian be filled with love, pure heat, a clear conscience, and sincere faith.
