Three factors, no, not fear

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
(2Tim.1.7)

Sometimes the best way to define a thing is by identifying what that thing is not. By eliminating what it is not we are left with what it is. God starts by saying what he has not given you and then concluding on what He has given you.

He says He has not given you the spirit of fear. Fear comes in various ways or we can identify various forms of fear. In our text today, the form of fear as rendered by different translations boils down to either timidity or shyness. Some people are shy to a fault. To the point, it hinders them from achieving their goal. So also is timidity which is a variance of shyness that is a form of fear.

We have identified what we were not given so now let's focus on what we were given.

God has given you power- that is abilities, gifts, talents, and know-how. There are things you do exceptionally well. They may look small in your eyes but they are God's gift of power to you. Like Gideon, go in this your might and you fulfill God's purpose for your life.

He has given you love. So that you operate your abilities from the place of love.

He has given you a sound mind. Sound reasoning. This also suggests self-discipline, self-control, and common sense.

So what are you waiting for? Step out and let God work through the gifts he placed on the inside of you. God has given you three success factors but, no, fear's not one of them.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
