Dealing with difficult times

"Don't be naive. There are difficult times ahead. (2Tim.3.1 MSB)

It is never easy to deal with difficult times. But if you've lived long enough, you'll know that difficult times come to all. God did not promise us a trouble-free life. He promised to be with us in trouble.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Ps.46.1)

If He will be with us in trouble, that suggests that trouble will surely come but He says to be of good cheer. Why? He says He has overcome on our behalf. That's why we are more than conquerors.

So do not be naive, our text caution. It says difficult times are ahead. But He reassures us of God's very present help. He says when you go through the water you will not drown and through the fire, you will not be burned.

"When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you." (Isa.43.2 NLT)

The best way I know to deal with difficult times is to be more conscious of the Lord's presence than the trouble you are in. And the way to do that is to speak His word over and over, over the situation, and stay in faith knowing that our God has never failed anyone and He will not begin with you.

If the battle is tough, ask to be tougher, if the race is fast, ask to be faster, if the fight is fierce, ask to be fiercer. Do not ask for an easier way, ask rather that no matter what comes your way, you are more than equipped to handle it. God allowed the trouble to come your way because through it He will promote you. Do not fret, deal with that difficulty knowing God is with you.
