Firm Foundation

Most people are quick to quote the passage from the Psalms that asked what the righteous could do should the foundation be destroyed to make the point that we need a better foundation. But the truth is that there is nothing you could do about foundational matters. You could not pray up, speak out, meditate out a better foundation.

Jesus is our already laid foundation.

"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. " (1Cor.3.11)

And all you can do is build on it and the building materials you use are up to you.

"Now anyone who builds on that foundation may use gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw." (1Cor.3.12)

So settle this in your heart and your mind that your foundation is Jesus Christ. You could not lay a better foundation even if tried.

"But the firm foundation of (laid by) God stands, sure and unshaken, bearing this seal (inscription): The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who names [himself by] the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it." (2Tim.2.19)

Your foundation is firm, it is sure and it is unshaken. Your foundation cannot be tampered with, not by men or by demons. It is a sure foundation.

And if you build on this foundation, the building is secured. And we know it so because, inscribed on this foundation is "The Lord knows who are His", and "Let everyone who names [himself by] the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it."

The Lord knows if you are His or not. It does not matter what others think or say about you. God knows you. Are you struggling? He knows. Are you tired? He knows. Whatever your state, God knows. And He is working it out with you.

And, do you name yourself by the name of the Lord? Then you must give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it. The way to give up all iniquity is by following the Master. No matter what, keep following. Are you failing? Keep following. Are you falling? Keep following. No matter what comes your way, just make sure you are following for you have a firm foundation
