Let God approve you

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2Tim.2.15) 

The most important approval you need is the one that God gives. Many may come from people highly placed but if it is not God's, it amounts to nothing. That means you may have to say no to some things. But when God approves you it does not matter who disapproves of you. 

Jesus asked his disciples what the people thought of him, and as good as their replies were, he did not get excited until Peter took a sneak peek into the celestial realm and proclaimed what God had proclaimed by the Jordan river. 

Our text says to study to show ourselves approved unto God. In other words, become a student that God teaches. A student that studies God and the way we do that is by studying the word of God. John one tells us that God and his words are one. When we study God's word we study God. And when we do, He will approve us after He has tested us to see if we rightly divide the word of truth. 

Hence, we will not be ashamed but as workmen rightly dividing God's word. May God approve as you study

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
