Acknowledging every good thing

"That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus."  (Phlm.1.6)

I once pointed to a girl in a classroom full of students and said, "you are the brightest student in this class". She looked at me with unimaginable disbelief in her eyes and said "who, me? And I replied you do not even believe that you could be the brightest student in this class.

Our text says that every good thing becomes effectual by the acknowledgment of that thing. There is no way you can be your best except you acknowledge that you are the best.

Our greatest fear is not that we are incapable but that we are capable beyond measure. Peter did not sink only because he took his eyes off the Master but also because he did not believe he could walk on water.

"And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me." (Matt.14.28 -30)

That you succeeded in that endeavour is not a fluke but that you believe that you can. Even when you do not believe but decided to act anyways, your actions are proof-positive that you believe. Whatever abilities you have, whatever talents, acknowledge it and then communicate it - put it to use - and see what waters God will cause you to walk on.
