Inside out

" he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. (Titus.3.5 MSB)

We were saved not by anything we had done. He gave us a good bath and we came out of it new people, washed inside out.

When we got saved, it was our spirit that was reborn. Jesus told Nicodemus that a man must be born again to experience God. And when we did we became new creatures in Christ Jesus.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2Cor.5.17)

That means our spirit now has a relationship with the Godhead.

Our text says this relationship is inside out. From our spirit to our soul - mind, will, and emotions. And then our body. Though our spirit is saved, our soul needs to be saved through the engrafted word that can save our soul.

"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." (Jas.1.21]

It is our responsibility to take the word of God and feed it to our souls. Man shall not live by bread alone but by the proceeding word from the mouth of God. When we do that, we are renewing our minds.

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Rom.12.2)

What we need to do more is feed the inner man with the word of God. It is an inside job
