Fix your thoughts on Jesus

"Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess." (Heb.3.1 NIV)

We are admonished in several places in scripture to look unto Jesus (see Heb:12:2) but here is our text today to fix our thoughts on Jesus.

Our thoughts are a very critical part of our service to God. It is with our mind we serve God (see Rom:7:25) And one of the strategies of the enemy is to get your thoughts off Jesus. When your thoughts are on Jesus your eyes will see Him.

Circumstances and situations in life come to distract us, to cause us to take our thoughts off the Master just like Peter did when he walked on the water. The enemy wants to get your thoughts off the master so he can get you to take your eyes off Him and begin to look at the situations instead. But fix your thoughts on Jesus.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." (Isa.26.3)

When the challenges of life come to trouble you, stay your mind on Jesus, that is how you share in this heavenly calling.

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
