Listen carefully

"So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. (Heb.2.1 NLT)

This verse of scripture reemphasizes the message of Roman 10:17 which say faith comes by hearing.

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Rom.10.17)

Our text in Hebrews says we listen carefully to what we have heard. How do you listen carefully to what you have heard? By hearing it over and over again.

It has been said and rightly so that faith does not come by haven heard but by hearing... put in the way our text has instructed, by carefully listening to the truth you have heard.

One way we can hear the truth over and over again is by saying it over and over again so that we hear it. As in the place of meditation, where you mutter it to yourself again and again.

When we hear it repeatedly, it keeps our focus on the truth of God's word that we have heard. And this helps us to not drift away.

Pay attention, my child, to what I say. Listen carefully.  Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. (Prov.4.20 -22)

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
