The wrath of man

The wrath of man

"For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God." (Jas.1.20)

Human anger and the righteousness of God hardly coexist. Indeed, anger is sometimes a valid emotion, however, we must learn to keep it under wraps. The Apostle Paul told the Ephesians to be angry and sin not because anger is sometimes a valid emotion.

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath" (Eph.4.26)

But there is a thin line between being angry and not sinning and being angry and sliding into sin. As a result, the Apostle James says that "Your anger can never make things right in God's sight." (Jas.1.20 NLT). That "God's righteousness does not grow from human anger (MSG)

So can we avoid being angry? The answer is "we may try", also, we should learn to be in control of our anger instead of letting it control us. The real answer though,  is in growing in the fruit of the spirit called "Self-control". And this cannot happen by human effort but by yielding to the Holy Ghost and growing in the fruit of the spirit.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Gal.5.22 NIV)
