It is the way you live not the way you talk that counts

"Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here's what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It's the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts." (Jas.3.13 MSB)

It is the way one lives and not the way one talks that counts. Talking with no corresponding action really amounts to nothing. 

Live your life. There's is the popular slogan YOLO - you only live once. It is said that some people do not really live, they just exist because they have refused to venture out. They sit in their comfort zone and do nothing significant with their lives. 

Our text asked the question "Do you want to be counted wise and build a reputation for wisdom? It says to live well, live wisely, and live humbly. Live, do not just exist. Step out today and live your life. Do something that matters and when the counting is done, you will be numbered among the wise. It is the way you live not the way you talk that counts. Live to be counted!

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
