Crying wages

Crying wages

"Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty." (Jas.5.4 NIV)

How we treat those who work with and for us is important to God. Our staff are extensions of us, without them we cannot fulfill all that God has in mind for us.

Imagine Moses without his staff, imagine David without his sling. Imagine Jesus Christ without his disciples. The first two examples were indeed instruments in the hands of the users but they were not anything less than tools in God's hand in accomplishing God's purpose through these individuals in the earth.

When you fail to treat your employees properly, you fail to appreciate their contribution, it is nothing compared to not paying them their wages. Their wages are not a favour, it is a debt. When you do not pay their wages, the Apostle James says their wages cry out against you.

"Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates: At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee." (Deut.24.14 -15)

Learning to treat people well, staff or otherwise should be our goal. Putting ourselves in their shoes is a good first place to start.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
