The power of continued prayers

The power of continued prayers

"Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. (Jas.5.16 AMP)

There are all these axioms about the last strike of the hammer breaking the rock or the last key in the bunch opening the door, all pointing to the effect of continuous effort and the result of it.

The story of Elijah which the Apostle James referenced here shows Elijah praying seven different times with an expectation. He told his servant to go be on the lookout.

"So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not." (1Kgs.18.42 -44)

Jesus told the story of the effect of continued prayers. He said if an evil Judge would heed because of the consistency of the widow, how much more God.

"Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" (Luke.18.5 -8)

This kind of prayer makes one's mind align with God's. And it also makes tremendous power available to the believer.

"Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit. (Luke.18.1 MSB)
