How to live forever

"And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever. (1John.2.17 NLT)

Nothing they say lasts forever but the Bible shows us how to live forever. 

Our text tells us that this world is fading away along with everything it craves. It paints a picture of the systems of men, the sensual gratification and greedy longings of the mind, and the assurance in one's own resources or the stability of earthly things. 

"For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things] - these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. (1John.2.16 AMP)

Contrast this verse with what the Lord does. The Bible says whatever the Lord does shall be forever. 

"I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him." (Eccl.3.14) 

Our text shows us how to: it says "But if you do the will of God, you will live forever" So the safest place to be is in the center of God's will. The surest assurance of a guaranteed future is to be doing the will of God. It not only secures peace of mind here on earth but also a sweet everlasting bye-bye. Do you want to live for? Do the will of God

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
