knowing God 

"Here's how we can be sure that we know God in the right way: Keep his commandments. (1John.2.3 MSB)

Knowing God has become much easier compared to before. And by before I mean before the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Why is this? 

When Jesus died the curtain that separated us from the very presence of God was torn from the top to the bottom. Top to bottom signifying no man could have done it. 

Jesus told us in John's gospel that any man who loves the Father will keep the Father's commandment. 

"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." (John.14.21) 

And this is what our text reaffirms. It says that the way you know you know God is by keeping His commandments. And this commandment that He speaks of is found in John:13:34. 

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." (John.13.34) 

Paul also tells us that the fulfillment of the law is summed up in love. 
"Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." (Rom.13.10) 
So the way you know God is by keeping His commandments. And the way to keep His commandment is to love one another. 

To know God is to love others. And to love others is to fulfill the law.

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
