We overcome by faith

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." (1John.5.4) 

It is by faith that we overcome. Faith is believing that what God said is so. If the enemy tries to put sickness on you, but God's word says you are healed. Letting that word take precedence and acting according to the word is faith. By acting as though the word is true because it is, is faith. 

It is by faith that we overcome. Not by our actions but by faith. Not by how we feel but by faith. Not by what we see but by faith. Not by what we hear but by faith. Faith is what gives us the victory. 

Our text says whatever is born of God overcomes the world. Because we are born of God, we are victorious. But for us to experience that victory in our lives we must act in accordance with the word or better still let the word of God work effectually in us

"For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." (1Thess.2.13) 

Let the word of God work in you, believe the word as God's word and you will see that the victory that overcomes the world is your faith. We overcome by faith

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
