Persist in following the way of Truth 

"I was most happy when some friends arrived and brought the news that you persist in following the way of Truth." (3John.1.3  MSB)

It was a wise man who said that standards will slip unless they are continually upheld. The same applies to the truth. We must persist in following the way of Truth. 

After a while, nature takes its course, and then everything begins to head southward, so also we tend to vie from the truth unless and until we persist in following the way of Truth. Little wonder the author of our text says this brought him great joy. 

A lot of things will come to deter you from the way of Truth. Sometimes it is fast gain, quick money and you will think it does not harm anyone but be careful to persist in following the way of Truth. 

"You have not yet struggled and fought agonizingly against sin, nor have you yet resisted and withstood to the point of pouring out your [own] blood. (Heb.12.4 AMP)

You have to stand your ground and by that I mean stand on the word of God, that is the way you persist in following the way of Truth, by following the word. 

"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John.17.17)

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
