The way of Cain, the error of Balaam and the rebellion of Koerah

The way of Cain, the error of Balaam and the rebellion of Koerah

Woe to them! For they have run riotously in the way of Cain, and have abandoned themselves for the sake of gain [it offers them, following] the error of Balaam, and have perished in rebellion [like that] of Korah! (Jude.1.11 AMP)

The Apostle Jude described certain individuals who were in the church. He says they have run riotously in the way of Cain and have abandoned themselves because of the gain and by so doing have followed in the error of Balaam and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Three very interesting Bible characters who did not toll the right and examplery path.

What is the way of Cain, the error of Balaam and the rebellion of Koerah?

Cain we know invented his own method of trying to please God. He brought God a sacrifice that wasn't acceptable. And in so doing was rejected and as a result killed his brother. (see Gen:4)

The error of Balaam was that he put gain ahead of obeying God. As Christians we should not let the praises of men or the lack of it be our motivation. Because the crowd that chantted Hossana one minute, could shout crucify him the next. (see Num:22)

And there was Korah who led a rebellion against Moses and he and his household was swallowed alive by the earth. (see Num:16)

Cain seek to please self (self righteousness), Balaam sought to enrich self (wealth) and Korah,  power. What do you seek?

Have a great day today,
