Neither cold nor hot

Neither cold nor hot

"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot." (Rev.3.15)

Indifference I hear is the opposite of love and not hate. I believe this is what this verse speaks of when it says you are neither cold nor hot. You never know with someone who is indifferent. He is not in yet not out, not up nor down, not loving nor hating, not friendly nor unfriendly, not cold nor hot.

God says he wishes we were one or the other. Why? If you are hot, He know how to use you. And if you are cold, he would know how to get you to where he could relate with you. Being lukewarm is a dangerous pace to be. Indecision is a major part of lukewarmness. One translation renders lukewarm as being stale, stagnant. And as you may know, there is no middle ground in the realm of the spirit. You are either going forward or you are going backward. No stagnation. Little wonder God says He will spew you out of His mouth.

"You're stale. You're stagnant. You make me want to vomit." (Rev.3.15 MSB)

So in verse 18 He counsel the stale and stagnant to do three things.

"I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see." (Rev.3.18 NIV)

One, he says buy gold refined in the fire. In other words, get involved, get busy, bite more than you can chew. Two, he says buy white clothes - live a life that reduces you but reveals him, reason he says white so your shameful nakedness is covered. And three, he says, salve for your eyes. So you can see the way He sees. So you can see yourself the way He sees you. Decide not to be cold but hot.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
