The deceiver

The deceiver

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev.12.9 KJV)

The number one strategy of the devil is to deceive. The power of the devil is the power of deception. And the way he deploys it is through suggestions. The devil has no power against you other than to inundate your mind with suggestions. He makes you think that the suggestions are you thoughts.

So, he says to Eve, "Has God said..." (see Gen.3) suggesting God has not said. He says to Jesus "If thou be the Son of God... " (see Luke 4) suggesting that Jesus wasn't the son of God.

That is why you want to guard your mind jealously. If he succeed: at your mind, he does not need to try to raise a finger against you, he would have gotten you already.

"Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life." (Prov.4.23 AMP)

And the way you guard your mind is by fortifying it with word of God. The reason Eve fell and Jesus didn't, was that while Eve took Satan's suggestions and acted on them. Jesus on the other hand, answered the devil's suggestions with the word of God. "It is written..." was Jesus' response every time he was tempted. Leaving us an example to follow. One way you will know that the thoughts going through your mind are suggestions from the devil is that it will not align with the word of God. Do not let the deceiver have his way with you. Stand on the word of God.

"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." (Ps.119.11)
