The devil's come down on you

The devil's come down on you

"So rejoice, O Heavens, and all who live there, but doom to earth and sea, For the Devil's come down on you with both feet; he's had a great fall; He's wild and raging with anger; he hasn't much time and he knows it." (Rev.12.12 MSB)

After the devil was sent packing from heaven his initial residence, he was driven to earth. And our text say he came down with both feet on the inhabitants of the earth. I find the expression very interesting.

For the devil's come down on you with both feet, he is wild and raging with anger. This explains in some details why the Bible tells us that temptation takes us. It comes looking for you with the sole intention to trick and trip you. He wants you to fall just as he fell. He wants you loose your estate, just as he lost his. But do not give in. God is faithful.

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (1Cor.10.13)

The New International Version actually renders it as" No temptation has seized you..."

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1Cor.10.13 NIV)

But our joy and hope is also found in this passage of scripture. It says God is faithful, who will not let you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. We can count on the faithfulness of our God. If the temptation comes, it is only because our faithful God allowed it, because He seeks an opportunity to promote us. While the devil tries to trick and trip us, God uses that same temptation to promote us.

Are you tempted? Be ready for a promotion.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
