Works Perfect before God 

"Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God." (Rev.3.2) 

If one could be saved based on good works, then the church in Sardis would be first. But despite her many works, not one was found perfect before God. Not one of us could ever present perfect work before God. If we could Jesus would not have needed to come. 
Good works are good only on the basis that our horizontal engagement points men vertically to God. That is, every time we do good works for our fellow man, it should point them to God himself. "

Jesus told us that men should see our good works and glorify God in heaven. So if your work does not point others to God, it is not good enough. It has been said that it is not wrong to be seen to give but to give to be seen is one such work that does not bring glory to God. 

So our text says to strengthen the things which remain that they die not and the way to do that is to be watchful. Jesus at the garden of Gethsemane told his disciples to watch with him for one hour so that they do not fall into temptation. (see Luke:22:40) Be watchful, and strengthen your works, let them point men to God. 

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matt.5.16)

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
