Be careful what you ask for 

"And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. (Gen.19.30 KJV)

Nobody likes being told what to do. Is this because of the innate leadership capacity in us? Or just plane ego? We want to be in charge, be the one who gives the order and Lot wasn't any different. 

The angels had instructed him and his family to escape to the mountains but Lot will not hear of it. He gave every reason why escaping to the mountains was a bad idea and asked that he goes to the little town of Zoar and then gave numerous reason why it was a good idea. 

"When they had them outside, Lot was told, "Now run for your life! Don't look back! Don't stop anywhere on the plain--run for the hills or you'll be swept away." But Lot protested, "No, masters, you can't mean it! Look over there--that town is close enough to get to. It's a small town, hardly anything to it. Let me escape there and save my life--it's a mere wide place in the road." (Gen.19.17-18, 20) 

Easy does not always equate God's will. Lot wanted the easy way out. But no sooner than he got to Zoar that he began to be afraid and had to escape to the mountains, where he was first instructed to go to. He asked for Zoar because he felt it was easy. Some time what we think will bring us satisfaction does not always end up satisfying us. Be careful what you ask God for. Before you ask for whatever it is you think you want to ask for, be sure it is what you really want to ask for because you might just get it.

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. Who makes me who I am

An Isoko adage says, "the name you call yourself is what others will call you. Meeting students, I have had cause to ask them if that was the name their parents named them and they say no. My real name is...and then they tell me. But whatever they call themselves is what other students call them. You are who you say you are, but the truth is, you act the way you become because you think that's who you are. So if you called yourself a policeman when you are a soldier, you will act as a policeman. If you are an eagle but call yourself a chicken, then you will act like a chicken. If you call yourself a failure, that's what you begin to act as. Little wonder, Jabez changed his name in the place of prayer, he declared that he is blessed and God granted his prayers.
