Blocking God's path

Blocking God's path

"The men set out for Sodom, but Abraham stood in GOD's path, blocking his way. Abraham confronted him, "Are you serious? Are you planning on getting rid of the good people right along with the bad? (Gen.18.22-23)

These verses show us a vivid picture of one who stands in the gap for another. Abraham stood in God's path, blocking his way, trying to prevent him from destroying Sodom and Gomorrah. This is what we can and should do on the behalf our unsaved loved one.

We have such privilege with God. To stand before him and intercede on behalf of others. Ezekiel tells us that God seeks for one man that will stand in the gap.

"And I sought a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found" (Ezek.22.30 AMP)

We see another example with Moses and the children of Israel. When God wanted to destroy them, Moses stood in the gap and prevented God.

"Now leave me alone so my anger can blaze against them and destroy them all. Then I will make you, Moses, into a great nation instead of them."  But Moses pleaded with the LORD his God not to do it. "O LORD!" he exclaimed. "Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and mighty acts? (Exod.32.10-11NLT)

Paul tells us that we have been given the ministry of reconciliation. (see 2 Cor. 5.18)
To reconcile men and women back to God starts in the place of prayers. Talk to God about men before you talk to men about God. This charge we have all received. May we find the grace to act where we are required. Amen

Good day,
Have a great day today,
